Summary of the project: The project addresses the issue of absence of availability of appropriate methods for education of preschool children from Roma communities, which would reflect the language differences and which would respect their different socio - cultural background.

The project aims to increase the competence of teachers in working with these children by training in methodology Grunnlaget. The authors of the methodology are Norwegian specialists from the partner organizations Pedverket Resource Centre. The method builds on the development of basic cognitive processes and its essence is to teach children to learn. Under the guidance of the authors, Slovak pedagogues will participate in a four-day seminar, to acquire basic knowledge and skills necessary for their use in practice. Although Grunnlaget methodology was originally developed for children with learning difficulties, it is well applicable to be used in conditions of Slovak Roma communities.
